ADHD Coaching

“Tell me, what is it that you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

- Mary Oliver

Having an ADHD brain has been likened to having a Ferrari brain with bicycle brakes, meaning we have a brain that’s racing all the time and we don’t don’t how to turn it off. Does this sound familiar? Executive function can be delayed by up to 30% in people with ADHD and this can affect self awareness eg burnout, problem solving and breaking down tasks, decision making, impulsivity, motivation, emotional regulation including rejection sensitive dysphoria, working memory, concentration, self sabotaging self talk, planning and prioritising.

For this reason I am particularly interested in the part nature has to play in attention restoration theory. Kaplan suggests that nature is facinating and can capture our involuntary attention leading to improved focus and the ability to concentrate.

This is why I like to offer my clients the opportunity to take our sessions outside, into the beautiful Purbeck countryside, where we can invite nature into our conversations.

My ADHD coaching approach is very much strengths and appreciative inquiry based using methods that work with the brain and not against it. Inadvertently, I’ve created a coaching style created from my own ADHD diagnosis and insights from working in the competitive, dynamic and complex world of pharmaceutical sales. Receiving a late diagnosis can be a rollercoaster ride which is where peer support or a coaching approach can help you navigate the ups and downs. As well as the challenges, a neurodivergent brain can represent unconventional creativity, authenticity, enthusiasm for new experiences, resilience and growth. Like plants we need the right conditions to thrive and I can help you to live a life true to yourself, to self advocate, explore your potential, identify your natural strengths, set boundaries, lean into your values, develop resilience and a practice of self compassion whilst turning down the volume on your inner critic.  Using practical tools and techniques, I can help you to create healthy habits and lasting change so you can move forward in the areas of your personal and professional life that really matter to you,

Testimonials

'Jane’s session on ‘you at your best’ was transformative and enlightening. Jane’s empathetic and insightful approach allowed me to express feelings and emotions I hadn’t been able to for a long time, to visualise what it was like being at my best, and think of ways how I could feel like that again. Her understanding and her ability to create a safe, non-judgmental space made me feel seen and understood. Jane's coaching has not only helped me recognise my strengths but also empowered me to embrace them. I left the session feeling more confident and equipped with strategies to manage my current situation better and to prioritise myself and my needs, which I’ve struggled to do for years. I highly recommend Jane to anyone seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable coach who genuinely cares about her clients' well-being'.
